Golden Oldies Truck Show 2014: 1965 Foden S21

Well, it's taken me, like, forever! But I've finally got the chance to photograph my very first Foden - a truck manufacturer consigned to the history books! This very splendid example of a 1965 S21 belongs to Frank Latorre from East Shepparton, Victoria, Australia and has been in Frank's shed since 1982 when he purchased it from a wrecker.

Foden: a name long consigned to the history books - the best trucks bar none

The owner of this fine Foden S21

The Foden in all it's glory - a wonderful truck and the perfect resto

A little embellishment on the front steer axle

And one last time for all times!

Clutha Transport History: White Road Commander

A little bit of road transport history in this blog entry - the company was Clutha Transport....

In late 1976, Clutha Transport commenced a test truck program to evaluate trucks to replace their aging Mercedes-Benz LS1418 fleet - the test fleet were made up of the following trucks:
3x Scania 111's (113, 114, 115)
3x White Road Commanders (116, 117, 118 - chassis numbers TE3074, TE3219 and TE3220)
3x Mack MIR700's (119, 120, 121)
3x Kenworths (122, 123, 124)

This blog entry revolves around White Road Commander 117 (chassis # TE3220) - Ray Grima owns all three Road Commanders and brought TE3220 up to Dubbo for the vintage truck show.... here are a few photos of the truck

Mercedes-Benz 1418

One of the most popular trucks of the 1970's would be the Mercedes-Benz 1418. With it's 14t gross mass and 180 horsepower 6 cylinder diesel engine, the 1418 was a no-nonsense little workhorse available in bonnetted and cabover forms. Here is a selection of finely restored and still working examples:

Bruce Wright's fine example of a still working cabover LPS1418

Heather Arnold's fine example of a restored bonnetted LS1418

You can see more of Heather's works at http://historictrucks.blogspot.com.au/

Ian and Nerida Bartholomew's fine example of a restored bonnetted LS1418

Golden Oldies Truck Show Part 2: Kenworth W-Model

This immaculate W-Model Kenworth was a real stand out for me! 3406B Caterpillar powered, it also had a Eaton RoadRanger transmission and Rockwell diffs on Kenworth AirGlide 100 8 bag air suspension.

Golden Oldies Truck Show 2010 Review Part 1

The Golden Oldies Truck Club recently hosted their 4th Truck and Tractor Show at the Dubbo Showground. I photographed some interesting trucks and will show them to you in parts!

These two photos are of a 1972 Scammell Routeman MkII 8x2 owned by Hunter Valley Classic Commercial Vehicle Club president Andrew Blacklock - first time to see one of these awesome trucks in real life!

Rod Lovell's 1961 Mack B-61 - now this is not a original 1961 model B-61 as it has a later engine in it! Twin stick Quad box, turbocharged engine and solid build quality make the B-Model a preferred truck for truck restorers world wide!

That's all for now, folks! Part 2 coming soon
